JOANNA NEWSOM WILL SCREEN HER NEW VIDEO IN MOVIE THEATERS

Joanna Newsom has announced that her new “Divers” video directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and shot at the NYC studio of artist Kim Keever will be screened in movie theaters across the United States from October 16th — 22nd, and in UK theaters on October 27th.
Newsom has also announced a North American tour following the release of her new album “Divers” due on October 23rd. In the meantime check the video for the first single “Sapokanikan”, which was also directed by Anderson.

LANA DEL REY RELEASES HONEYMOON ALBUM SAMPLER

Lana Del Rey has an album called Honeymoon coming out on September 18, and with just nine days to go until then, the singer has shared a sampler containing previously unheard material from the album. This hazy three-and-a-half-minute clip contains extracts from several songs and snippets of previously unheard tracks “Terence Loves You”, “Music to Watch Boys To” and “Freak”, as well as last month’s single “High By the Beach”.

BJÖRK SHARES PERSONAL EMAILS ON “BJÖRK: ARCHIVES” BOOK

Björk is a contemporary icon whose contributions to music, video, film, fashion and art have influenced a generation worldwide, back in March,  MoMA in New York opened up  a major mid-career retrospective. Thames & Hudson released a tome detailing Björk’s boundary pushing body of work. Seven distinct booklets came together to create “Bjork: Archives” with one publishing the intimate correspondence with philosopher Timothy Morton in which they search for “a definition of me and my friends’ stance in this world, which I felt his writing came very close to already. Of course I’m still searching but this email chat of ours got pretty close and we shared a couple of coordinates trying to define what “ism” a pop musician from iceland would be [...]“. “Björk: Archives” features contributions from Klaus Biesenbach, Alex Ross, Nicola Dibben, Timothy Morton and Sjón and is designed by M/M (Paris) is out now. SKY FERREIRA IS WORKING ON HER OWN FILM

Sky Ferreira is working on “Masochism”, the follow-up LP to 2013′s “Night Time, My Time”. Recently she also announced another project: a film co-written with director and frequent collaborator Grant Singer. It’ll be out this summer, she said, and will be accompanied by a new song. In the meantime check the video for “Everything is embarassing” directed by Singer as well.

TORRES NEW ALBUM IS OUT

Following her self-titled debut in 2013, TORRES, the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter otherwise known as Mackenzie Scott, released her new record titled “Sprinter”. The players on the album include Adrian Utley of Portishead, and Ian Olliver and Rob Ellis of PJ Harvey’s former band, and their viscous sonic approach is a perfect match for Scott’s tremendous voice.

GRACE JONES FIRST THREE ALBUMS REISSUED

“I Need a Man” was the debut single for Grace Jones, originally recorded and released in France while she was still working as a fashion model. The track was later re-recorded and included it on her 1977 debut album “Portfolio” as part of a trio of disco albums (together with Fame “1978″ and “Muse”) released between 1977 and 1979 by Island Records. Now they have been remastered and reissued as a brand new three-CD or four-LP box set titled Disco. Can you wait until May 4th?

Asif Kapadia’s documentary on Amy Winehouse

Altitude films is about to release a documentary about jazz-pop diva Amy Winehouse. The film is entitled “Amy” and was made by BAFTA-winner Asif Kapadia. “Amy” features interviews with her ex-lover Blake Fielder, Mos Def and her producer Salaam Remi. The film brings to light unseen, archive footage as well as previously unheard tracks. The complete documentary will be out on July 3rd, in the meantime watch the trailer below.
