NATASHA KAHN DIRECTS SHORT FILM

Singer and composer Natasha Khan, whom you may know under the monicker Bat For Lashes, directed the short film entitled I Do. It will form part of Madly, the MTV feature project on the theme of love that will premiere at Toronto Film Festival next September. Other shorts in the feature include films directed by Gael Garcia Bernal, Sebastian Silva and Mia Wasikowska. In the meantime have a look at this short film she directed for YMC, soundtracked by an unreleased collaboration between Khan and Beck.

BJÖRK RELEASES BLACK LAKE VIDEO

Bjork has finally released her Andrew Thomas Huang directed short film for Black Lake. The short film was commissioned by MOMA as part of her retrospective, it’s created in collaboration with the 3D design firm Autodesk and the wardrobe is designed by Iris Van Herpen. Watch it below!

TRACY EMIN CREATES COVER ARTWORKS FOR PENGUIN

Tracey Emin, one of Britain’s most celebrated contemporary artists, has provided cover artwork for the new Penguin Modern Classics editions of Henry Miller’s novels Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. They are scribbles and Schiele-esque swirls, shadowy dark smudges of bodies in motion and, as you may have guessed, they perfectly fit the books’ content.

Cybèle Young, I Thought They Worked Better (Lost-headphones), 2015

Cybèle Young is a renowned artist and author living in Toronto and spending her days creating miniature worlds from fine Japanese papers. Her critically acclaimed work has been exhibited across the world, resides in major collections and in the private homes of collectors such as Ben Stiller, Noah Baumbach, Christian Louboutin and George Soros. She has won over twenty grants and awards including a four-month Canada Council studio residency in Paris. Cybèle has both written and illustrated 8 picture books to date and won the Governor General’s Award for for her book “Ten Birds” in 2011. She works in a diverse range of mediums, but always at the root is a close connection to the hand, to paper and to the drawn line. “Some Changes Were Made”, her first New York solo exhibition, is opening on June 4th at Forum Gallery and will be representing 3 years of art production.
