Could you please tell us something about your background?
In 1998 I graduated in scenography at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan. From 1992 to 2002 I’ve been working as scenographer for television and theatre, as assistant director and art buyer for films and photo shoots. Finally, in 2003 I managed to open my own studio in Como.

Which troubles, if any, did you encounter starting your own studio?
Finding someone who needed me.

What are your major influences?
I am influenced by the smells of the places.

What is a typical work day like for you? Any special perks?
I wake up and start watching.

Is there something you miss about working for theatre and television?
Sometimes I want to do something useful.

Is there something in particular that gave your career a twist?
The inability of many.

What is the commissioned work that you liked the most? Why?
Best jobs are unpaid.

What would you suggest to a person who wants to undertake your career?
A director once told me: “if you want to become a director begins shooting a bottle cap.” In short, clear ideas and start working. I think it was good advice.

What is the most interesting place you’ve ever travelled to? Why?
Mongolia. I understand the serenity of the nomads and the pleasure of having only the necessary things.

If you didn’t turn out to be a stylist, what else would have you been doing?
The wolf.

Which is the movie you would like to make props for? Why?
A film that tells of a blind person, which includes things for their scent and their shape. It would be interesting to find props for this film.
